1974 Stepside Fleetside Fuel Tank Problem

I am putting together a 1974 truck that was originally a fleetside shortbed.I had the fuel tank powder coated black and the straps powder coated white.

I had a change of heart and put a stepside bed on and now have no way of filling it up as the gas tank filler is on the wrong side for a stepside.

I don't want to replace the tank is there any way of fixing this?

should be able to unbolt your tank brackets and swap them to the side where your filler is. may have to change filler hose

Re: 1974 Stepside Fleetside Fuel Tank Problem

The truck was originally a fleetside and the tank is on the drivers side.
I put a stepside bed on it and the fill neck is now on the passenger side.
I will try switching the bracket.

The front brackets are side specific. There are factory welded on nuts that only align on the proper side of the frame. You can swap them to the other side but you'll have to use bolts and nuts because the factory welded nuts won't align with the holes on the other side of the frame.
