Got a problem
Ok guys, I've got a problem with my truck. Every once in a while I go out to start it and drive but it won't start. Everything else works on the truck, radio, gauges move up, etc. But it won't even try. GrandPa said it could be a wire with the starter, so I jiggled the wire and still nothing. I mean it won't even try to turn over, my stepdad and his friends couldn't find out what it was. But then a hour later I go out and it starts... Any of you guys know what's goin on? It will start then 2-3 hours later it won't then it will. I don't understand it. Like it goes when it wants to lol. Thanks

Re: Got a problem
Is it an automatic? If it is jiggle the shifter, it could be the neutral safety switch.

Re: Got a problem
Yea I guess. I just don't understand why it starts now then later it doesn't. I just don't wanna be at school and have to get to work then it won't start. And have to sit there till she wants to go.

Re: Got a problem
My truck occasionally does the same thing and I can't figure it out . Has new wiring harness , starter etc but I never thought about neutral safety switch .

Re: Got a problem
My '92 GMC was doing the same thing. If hit the solenoid with some thing it would start, I finally got tired of doing that and replaced the starter.

Re: Got a problem
You could probably just start it with a pliers on the solenoid. That would implicate any ignition wires in the cab. Don't try that unless you've done it before... best to find someone with experience when resorting to jumping stuff. lol
