New here
So I got the green light to post away woohoo. Lot of information I want to know. But for starters my first truck was a 66 C10 with a 283 with a 4 speed I later in highschool put a turbo 350 in it. Well I sold the truck after high school and here we are fast forward 20 years I just bought a 1965 fleetside and I will be asking lots of info about the truck. But my first question is Is this the factory bumper

Re: New here
It is a factory back bumper! In my eye it is the worst back bumper, in that if you back into anything your rear fender is now bent! Just my thoughts though..

Re: New here
Welcome & great looking truck. Its a dealer bumper, and there is a whole thread here on them. What are your plans on the new truck?

Re: New here
Cool! It's not too often you see a shorty with a big step bumper. I like it!
Let me help you out (since you are new and all), and I'll fix that first pic if you promise to show more. |

Re: New here
So from what I know on the truck. I bought it from a kid who needed a commuter for work. He had bought it from the original owner who lived in Fresno Ca. The truck was built at the Fremont plant so CA truck. The original color was off white. It has a 283 with a powerglide. Is their away to tell what motor this truck came with. I think it's the original motor. I'm powder coating bumpers grill door panels a off white. I do need 4 original hubcaps.

Re: New here
Cool truck. What color are you going to powder coat? Good thread over here on dealer bumpers. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=barden+bumper Also "search this forum" for barden bumper. My bumper is pretty heavy duty and I haven't had any problems yet. Take some pictures of the truck and post them in the photoshop forum to see how it would look before you choose a color. Good folks in that forum!

Re: New here
Oh please get rid of the bumper! It's only been on there for 48 years and it's only a matter of time. Seriously though, if you like it keep it.

Re: New here
cool, old truck you found...it'll really be an antique by the time your son takes over. And I think it'll look good with the powdercoated parts. If the kid you bought the truck from got it from the original owner, it very well could have the original engine. My truck originally had the 283/Powerglide combo.

Re: New here
Welcome to the forum! Great looking truck. That's the exact style rear bumper that was ordered new on my stepside. I tossed it out years ago because I was worried about the fenders getting clobbered, but a few time I've wished I had kept it. I think on my truck it could have looked pretty nice powder coated black. I think it's going to look great on yours in white. And they are very handy if you actually use the truck for hauling stuff. There was a thread on here recently talking about where to find the rubber seal that goes between the bumper and the quarter panel.

Re: New here
Very nice truck you scored, its nice to keep the dealer barden bumper because they are getting harder to find, but as they said, somebody tags it in a parking lot and the side panels will be in bad shape, that happened to my father in law.
Looking forward to more pics...
