Ford T5 in my Chevy
I know I may catch hell out here for posting this but what the heck. I have a 5 speed out of a 90 mustang 5.0. I know its more work this way but these trannys are everywhere and cheap..I have built and raced modified 5.0 mustangs with stock T 5s and never broke one, my last notchback dynoed 492 at the wheels and it lived, my theory is with the right rear end gear say in my C-10 with 410s to 456 depending on tire size it takes most the load off the engine, trans and drive shaft and puts it at the tires and axles.
Anyway I found a post on a corvette board where some guys where doing this conversion and making up there own adapter,so I was lucky enough to find the specs and brought it down to my local water jet guy and he cut this out of 1/2 aluminum for me(perfect because the fords input shaft is 1/2 longer) (photo below). The Adapter will bolt to my chevy bell housing, top left will take a counter sunk 7/16 bolt for clearance of the top ear on the T5,and then I will slide the T5 into the adapter level it with the bell housing drill it and stud the adapter. Its very impressive how exact the water jet cut the adapter. I plan on tearing it down in a few days and starting on it,Il post back with how its going if any ones interested and also would surly like to here from anyone out here that has done this,,,thanks jim
