Anyone used a Drop down battery box ?

Im thinking about using on of these.Have not found any pics of this style battery box on the 64-66 C10. So I'm looking for detailed mounting pics.

I bought one to use from CPP but after about half a minute I realized... unless I was a static... why would I want to relocate my battery to the back of my frame rail. Id have to put it between the cab and the passanger side wheel and with being porterbuilt rear and sectioned front, my body is on the ground. If I ever had a electrical drain or compressor or you name it... left my damn lights on. I now have no way to get at my battery unless I installed a hinge system on my box and then it just gets even more complicated.

Personally after really thinking about it, All my wiring I can safely run of a ditribution block, or off the starter I will. Only thing to my battery direct will be my fast and main/ground. I'll run side post and hide them into the inside of my fender wells.

Takes more time... but thats ok.

BTW I have a battery box for sale haha.

Got one on mine installed under bed on passenger side. Major pita to jump or charge battery. Works best if a floor jack is under it to lift battery back up. Nice though considering i I can lay down to do all battery work. With all those perks, I would still sell you mine.

I dont have a box yet. I still might put it in the bed with a cover over it.

I remember my '57 had it in the cab under the pass. side floorboard. I wouldnt think it would have worked for layin' frame though. Id'd like to find a driver's side inner fender with a battery box cutout so I could run duals. Come to think of it, the underfloor set up would work for a lifted rig.

Helped a buddy put one in an out-of-sight box in the trunk of a fuh-fuh--fohohohorgetit. We got some charge/jump start terminals an mounted them just above the bumper in an out of the way place. Works great! He left his key switch and found the car dead later in the week. Putting a charger on it the "new & improved" system.
Thinking of putting one in the passenger rear fender on the frame.

Tom,

Thinking about running the same battery box with my Jimmy. Since you have had the battery box for awhile, any issues? How close is it to the rear tire? Would you do it again? Any other clearance issues?
