What a difference! I've had this project in the works for a few weeks, and finally got around to installing it yesterday. I didn't have time for a proper test drive until today. I had to go over to my sisters place in Heber City, about 30 miles from here, but I took the back way there-some nice curvy two lane and mountain passes. Now, I can turn in the turns, instead of just kinda sluffing around them. On the way home, I ran down the Interstate, through a nice, windy-but mostly flat-canyon. Used to be I couldn't hold the inside lane at 70 around some of the curves, but now-no problem! I think this is the best upgrade I've done. More single improvement than when I added power steering and power brakes, with out a doubt

Was this just a front sway bar, or did you do a rear also?

LOL yeah it makes a bit of a difference. The only truck I ever drove without one was my lifted 4Runner. I took it out for off roading. Man it was scarey on the highway haha. I'm pulling mine out tomorrow because it needs to be trimmed so it clears my front bags. I'll have to be sure to put it back in!

Their actually called an Anti-Sway Bar...........for obvious reason...the do their job.

One of the best upgrades for not much money you can do to your truck. When I installed mine 5 or 6 years ago I could tell the difference in the truck driving it from my garage in the back alley to the street in front of my house. Although my truck is not lowered I used ECE's Anti-Sway Bar brackets for lowered trucks so unless you get on your hands and knees you cant see the Anti- Sway Bar. What thickness bar did you use? I used a 1 1/4 inch bar from an 80's 3/4 ton 9000lb GVW Trailering Special truck.

AJ per the SPID your truck was built with one. RPO F59. However you might want to try a heavier bar. IIRC a square body bar73-88 will fit. Might want to check into that and keep your eyes open for a C30 Camper Special square to steal one off of.

73-87 bars, if looking at 1/2 and 3/4 ton rg cabs. Crew cabs and suburbans didn't change body styles to 92, iirc.

Installing a front bar made the difference in us selling my dads 71 GMC swb stepside. Everyone who drove it was used to the modern vehicles and it felt scary. I torched one off a 73 3/4 ton i parted, cleaned everything up and painted it then bought new bushings for the install. Mostly labor getting the old frame rivets out of the recipient, but the best half days work and $30 (bushings) I ever spent!

I bought the rusted out 73 3/4 ton ranch truck with a rebuilt 454, parted it and sold for scrap, kept engine, traded the th400 for a running 85 s10 blazer 4x4 with no title (deer lease truck) and still made $200!

I think I paid like 15 bucks for the bar at the junkyard. It's the smaller diameter, 1&1/16". I didn't have a way to remove the brackets from the donor, so I bought a set off the parts board and a new set rubber bushings from Napa. Probably into the whole thing 60 or 70 bucks. It took a couple of hours to install. The hardest part was the rivets that had to go, on the lower front crossmember.

I just looked under my GMC and theres no anti-sway bar!!! oh oh I better put one in there HAHA. I havent really driven it much so i didnt notice yet. I was actuallly going to pull it out today to trim it so my bags wouldnt rub... I guess i dont have to pull it out
