Edelbrock vs. q-jet
Anyone running a 1406 performer? I'd like to know how it does 4 wheeling up and down hills etc.

I am running a 1405 which is the same carb as the 1406 (600 cfm) but with a manual choke on my new big block in my 78’ K10. 600 cfm is not nearly big enough for the big block I just bolted in the truck a few weeks ago but I am going to plunk down a couple hundred more bucks for a 750 cfm since I am swapping on fuel injection this winter. I also run an Edlebrock 1407 750 cfm on my big block 396 in my 68’ GMC. Both of them are fine carburetors if you like carburetors. I am starting to retrofit fuel injection on all of my toys for reliably and added performance of EFI.
These performer series carburetors are awesome but are pretty quirkily when off-roading as they tend to flood very easy. Edlebrock has a cheap and easy to install off-road kit for the performer series to correct this. The part number is EDL-1465 and I think the kit is under $30 through Summit.

How about 1469. That's what Advance has listed for a high performance float kit. comes with 2 floats.?? I'll get my buddy to check his summit catalog.
Thanks for the advice

I needed a new carb for my emissions controlled and tested 1983 c10. I bought the edelbrock 1904 q-jet after 3-4 members recommended it. I bought the carb threw it on, tuned it, and its been running great ever since. Engine runs great. If you are interested in a q-jet I would go with the edelbrock, its a nice carb and others could back me up. It is pricy though.
