i have a 82 k20 burb and was wondering what ideas of lifts yall have. body lifts or suspension lifts. brands, prices, durability and difficulty of instillation

I'm looking at a 4" suspension for my k20 burb. Was thinking rough country but not totally sure.

Tuff Country makes a lift for these. Summit has them for $450 with free shipping. It has front springs and rear blocks, brake line extensions, but no shocks. It gets good reviews as having a great ride but costs a little more than comparable lifts. They make them in 2", 3", 4", and 6" so you can get however much you want.

well i was thinking shackles in the front and blocks in the back and do 2 inches but i was concerned about the steering binding up

6" rough country lift add a leaf front and blocks in the back. Dosent ride that harsh.

I have a oppurtnity to buy a 4 inch lift tht comes with u bolts, blocks, and front spring for 250, I I go 4 inches wht all would. Have to change to make it steering work, idk much bout these burbs so please help!

At 4" you'd need longer brake lines and a drop pitman arm. Driveshafts should be OK on a truck that long but you could check.

For that I would use add-a-leafs. They are cheap and easy. Shackles only yield 1/2 the lift of what length they are,so you'd need 4" shackles. I would never do something like this,myself,especially on the front. The front end assembly has a tendency to want to "rack" (shift laterally) when turning wheels and shackles will allow that even more.

I forgot about the good old add-a-leaf. Cheap but effective. It'll ride pretty stiff but it's not too bad.

$250 is not bad for a 4" lift. Your factory steering will work fine with 4" any more and you need drop pitman arm or Z'ed drag link. If you don't want to use blocks than you can get a set of front hangers off of another 73-87 to replace the rear hangers with. This flips the rear shackle for 4" of lift and a softer ride, with more flex.

$250 for a new or used lift? I would stay away from add-a-leafs. They make for a very harsh ride. I had a set of 2" aal's on my 80. It was not long after I took them off and opted for 4" front springs and a block in the rear. I had a 99 Burban with a 3" block in the rear and a shackle flip. I love the shackle flip. My Burban rode smooth on 37's. Of course the IFS front had a lot to do with it.

I have a set of front 6" Superlift springs for my the 73 Blazer I just picked up. I bought them years ago from Superlift's scratch and dent EBay store. I paid less than $100 for them shipped to my door. They need bushings but I will used greaseable ones from Off Road Design, plus another shackle flip in the rear. Maybe a zero rate 1" aal if I want a little extra height.
