carb question

Ok guys I'm new to this forum but not new to trucks I have a 77 Chevy Cheyenne with a sbc 400 in it and a 86 quadrajet with an electric choke and carb I took off was a manual choke what would take to use the carb with the electric choke on this truck

All you need is keyed power going to the choke. All it does is run a small heating element that warms the choke coil spring and pulls the choke off slowly.

GM used an oil pressure switch, which didn't allow power to the choke until the switch saw pressure (running engine). That way if you sat with the key on for an extended period of time the choke wouldn't come off creating a hard to start cold engine.

Oh ok thanks next question is I had to out q set of tanks from an 87 Chevy that has in tank fuel pumps can I use the intank electric pump and the mechanical on the side of The block together I'm used to diesels were the more fuel the better

There are a couple ways you can do it.

If you want to run the electric pumps you will need an external pressure regulator as the carb only needs about 6-7 psi pressure if I recall correctly. (might want to double check that number). The in tank pumps were used with the throttle body injection systems on these trucks and required 12-13 psi for proper operation.

To use the mechanical pump you will need to change the tank fuel pump/pick ups to just standard per 87 fuel pickups/sending units.

I would personally run the mechanical system. Much less complicated, relatively speeking, and you won't have to worry about wiring the fuel pump circuit into the 77.
