C-20 questions???
So i have a c20 with a trim tag that says 5000GVW that has a heavy duty drive shaft set up, a big center bearing (292 w/sm420) and a c20 custom camper with a gvw rating of 7500 (327/th400). but the drive shaft is like a c10. it has the small center bearing. Not sure why. the pic is of the 5000gvw truck. What is the reason for the different driveshafts? I dont have a pic of the CC truck cuz its apart.

Re: C-20 questions???
maybe theres a difference for the 6cyl/manual vs v8/auto. differnt length driveshafts? but also keep in mind....5000 is a 1/2 ton rating. whats the vin code list on your 3/4ton? should be c25 or k25 which would be 5500-7600

Re: C-20 questions???
I don't have the answer to your question, but every truck I have had and seen with a SM420, had the HD driveshaft and carrier bearing. I would have thought that a C20 with a TH400 would have had the HD driveshaft as well.

Re: C-20 questions???
I will look up the vin on both trucks. Im wondering since the sm420 has such a low 1st gear, that is why the HD driveshaft.

Re: C-20 questions???
I had the same question about my 327/auto custom camper. The driveline seems light.

Re: C-20 questions???
Did anyone ever come with anything on this question? Does the rear end ratio play into at all? I've got 4.56s so perhaps the torque on the driveshaft is less with such low gears. Just a wild guess.
