What's a Corporate Rear Axle No Spin (locker) Worth?
I have a chance at a third member with the no-spin (detroit locker) and 4.56 gears. No price yet, but I want to be informed. What is the going rate for these in your area?
Thanks...Duffy

Depending on what condition the locker is in, and when it was put in, etc. the locker itself is worth at least $300-$400. Cost me $550 to get a brand new one for my 10-bold corp. axle. Make sure the carrier bearings are in good shape. If they're not good then it cost $300+ labor to get new ones put in. The bearing set for those is monsterous, and expensive. Gear sets range from $200 to $400 new. Used they're probably 1/2 that if the wear patterns are good.
If I were to sell just my third member now I'd want at least $1000, because it has a brand new locker, new 3.90 gear set, and new carrier bearings with rebuilt carrier. It's good for another 30 years of life. If they want more than $500 for it I'd have it checked out by a shop you can trust (since its removed anyway). ------------------ '69 3/4 ton C20 2wd w/ 350ci/400THM and a wood bed! The cheapest Detroit locker you can buy is the one for a chevy Corp14 (go figure. it's the biggest axle around) You can get one new for $345. Other axles cost as much as $550.
500 bucks would be an "OK" price for a complete axle. There isn't really a 3rd member for a Corp14 as it all has to be set up. i.e. the pinion and stuff can't be set up and popped in like other axles. The carrier is worth about 10 bucks and the gears about 150. If you are going to put money in an axle get a corp14 ------------------ Scrub 70 GMC 1,000,000 + miles 72 K-20 project, 456 Dana60 front, Corp14 rear w/locker, 265R19.5 tires 20-ply. I have the no-spin (detroit) locker in my truck and recently bought a spare locker for $100. The pinion bearing in these axles are $250+ new. Luckily I found a nos bearing on ebay fo $10. And the carrier bearings are about $35 a piece. In my opinion a complete 3rd member with a good ring and pinion and good bearings is worth around $500.
