1980 Chevy bowtie grille emblem ideas

Mine is pretty shabby. Not broken, but the gold rubber stuff is mostly worn off. Questions...

What years fit my 1980?

Any ideas on something different to use or do? Maybe use Goof Off to remove the rest of the gold rubbery stuff and just leave it chrome looking?

Here is what it is supposed to look like...

As you know doubt found out, the 1980 bowtie's are much more pricey than any others. They were a pretty limited offering. I painted mine body colour.

Looks to me that its an amber plastic insert. Am I correct? If so, why not remove it, and redo it like you would a composite headlight lens?

Re: 1980 Chevy bowtie grille emblem ideas

It's a clear lense over a corrugated gold foil base, hence the pricey-ness. I ended up just painting the lense, as I couldn't get the flaking gold crap cleaned off. The 1980 bowtie was, afaik, a one year only option.
