Re: what is this?

Yep, it mounts the bed to the frame. When installing the bed wood, there will be a board thats right over each one of the boxes and a bolt go through to the frame. Good luck with the install.

Re: what is this?

I know there are different rear sills for different years. There is also a difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton sills. Is your truck a 3/4 ton ?

Re: what is this?

In this picture from LMC you can see the sill boxes and pads as they mount to the bed. Contact the seller and let them know the issue. I have 2 stepsides, both mount to the frame via the boxes on the cross sill.

so i could cut these off and weld them on just above the frame, sounds do-able.

Re: what is this?

What year is your AD ?

The '47-'53 AD's have a splayed (wider at the rear) Chassis.

The '54-'59 AD & TF use a parallel Chassis.

If you bed is centered over the Chassis then I'd say you have a Parallel Chassis.

Re: what is this?

AS I was posting You posted that its a 3600. That would make it parallel and a early Chassis.

My Post was assuming a 1/2 ton chassis.

Re: what is this?

If the bed fits otherwise, i dont think there would be a problem relocating the mounts.

Re: what is this?

Just for grins decode your chassis number in the LMC catalog VIN ID section.

That will help you with IDing just what you have. A lot can happen in 60 years to these old trucks.

Re: what is this?

I just looked at a 1/2 and3/4 ton sills your frame looks to be 3/4 ton and your sill is 1/2ton 47-53. I would just move the mounts like you said. the sills are the same other than that.

Looks good. Nice way to hide the mounting bolts.
