66 Longbed helper springs - these are different

I've only seen the leaf spring style rear helper springs on the 60-66 longbeds.
Well, I just bought a complete and virtually unmolested 66 longebed. I gave the bed to a friend since he didn't have one. That allowed me to get a good look at these unusual helper springs. Are these factory or a dealer option?
