Whats it worth?

I'm looking at a stepside 68 c10 with a LS 5.3/4L60e swap. It has had a smooth fender put on to replace the spare tire fender, and lots of little things.

He is finishing up putting in brand new auto meter gauges as well.

Truck seems solid all around.

Is 8.5k a good price?

Thank you and hopefully I'll be posting lots more on here soon.

If you post pictures of the truck, it will help us determine the value of the truck.

Re: Whats it worth?

With apparent rust on the doors, an unfinished interior, primer paint and missing parts I would say that 8.5 is VERY high for that truck, even with the LS swap. I would put that truck's value at 3-4K.

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Re: Whats it worth?

I agree, $8,500 is pretty high.

Re: Whats it worth?

Does it run and drive? How was it lowered? Spindles or cut springs? Discs? .. kinda looks like it.

How about the cab mounts, misc rust? Keep in mind the 5.3 iton block swaps are
ot as pricey as aluminum blocks. $1500-$2000 for the takeouts. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Whats it worth?

Ask me every other day when I want to sell my truck. Today I don't - LOL.

Where I live, you wouldn't want to buy any of the trucks that are for sale. Salt has eaten most of them up. Down south you guys seem to have a better selection of trucks. And if 8.5K is your budget you should be able to find something nice. Other than CL and eBay, keep an eye on the Trucks For Sale forum on this site, also cars-on-line.com often has nicer by-owner trucks listed (as well as a ton of dealer listings which can be pricey).

Good luck and come back and post pics of your truck when you get it!

Re: Whats it worth?

Guess I can chime in.......Anything over $3000 will be way out of price range. You are going to have at least another $3000 in body and paint, over $1000 on interior....and thats being generous.
The bad: Unless the inner fenders are in the bed, you need those both. Also needed is the rest of the door panels, arm rest, antenna (unless its shaved...cant tell in pic) grill trim, front bumper and brackets, wipers, marker lenses and lamps, carpet, and mirrors.
The good: Has new booster and proportioning valve to go with the upgraded DISC front brakes. Body looks to be straight, rims are decent 20's, and bench seats looks decent.

Personally I would make a respectful offer, but $8500 is WAYYYYYY too high.

Re: Whats it worth?

If you are interested in a SWB stepper, take a look at mine. (Link in my signature) $8750 buys it. All the metal work is done, 68 front clip. Price is rock solid firm. The truck is right, it just needs finished up. Some of the best west coast metal you will find. Chose your own colors

.. and its close to you.

Re: Whats it worth?

It has front and rear sway bars a complete drop kit from ccp 5/4.

Also have 4 wheel discs. Converted to 5 lug.

And he has the door panels and fenderwells just not installed yet. They would be before I were to make an offer.

Re: Whats it worth?

That alone would be $2k + if you had to add it yourself.

And from the sunlight shining through the bed, you can add a bed floor and tailgate to the list also. $8500 is way to high.

That's because we are all master negotiators and can buy any truck we want wayyy below market. If you had come on here and asked "if this was your truck, what would you expect to get for it", the numbers would be close to what he's asking. I notice it has a Griffin radiator in there, that isn't cheap. That's a good sign that the guy hasn't gone cheap on the build.

If you've shopped the market and you feel confident you aren't going to get better for less, then get it.

Im not trying to tell you its not a good truck. I would just make sure you look over everything very well and price out what you need to finish it up. We can sink a ton of money into these rides just to watch it burn up like the fuel we run in them.
If the LS was a new motor I would most likely tell you to go for it and never look back. However, its not.....would bet it has well over 60-80K miles on on it, just by looking at the corrosion on the pulley alone. Most likely a late model junkyard engine thrown in. We find them here in the MidWest for less than $1000 for motor and ECM or $2000 for complete motor, trans, and computer with all wiring harness.
Like I said the body looks straight. If it runs great, and since you know he has all fenders and a few other parts that arent currently pictured......you could most likely grab that truck here in the MidWest for around $5000 as a project roller.
As someone else mentioned before, If you think this is the best you will find for the money, offer more. But I wouldnt think I would see more than $5000 - $6000 at tops.
