mcgaughys spindle ?

I just got my mcgaughy 2.5" drop spindle hanger shackle kit in. Looking at the spindle it is stamped 6072L an 6072R. The box does say 73-87 LD DROP SPINDLE. Could have it been packaged wrong??

Re: mcgaughys spindle ?

My guess is the box is wrong. The part number leads me to beleive they are for 60-72.

Re: mcgaughys spindle ?

You are fine.
That is just the casting number for the "style" of spindle.

They are all made from the same casting for all spindles, 1960-1987.
They they are reamed for the to correct balljoints and tie rods.
The same casting is used for all C10 spindles.

The break down is as follows:
60-62
63-70
71-72
73-87

Sure it would be nice to have the part number cast into the spindle,... but then all the molds would have to be different.
Not cost effective.

The only variation is the 73-87 Light Duty spindle,... which has a different size bearing "spud", machined for the LD bearings.

Re: mcgaughys spindle ?

I have the same spindle on mine with the 73-87 Kmember swap and HD rotors. My spindles had 6072L/R in them too, and in fact I asked the same question. Mine worked fine.
