Anybody ever gatorguard their box?
Hey Guys,
I have a long box and 3 boxes of gatorguard, weather is supposed to be nice this weekend so I think its time! I'm going to pick all the old dried up seam sealer from the seams and lay in a new bead. Is there any other prep aside from whats on the box that has given you guys good results?

I used it, I just prepped with some paint reducer. That said if I was to do a liner again I'd drop the dime and go with line-x. This stuff is rough and does chip.

Re: Anybody ever gatorguard their box?
Well this is interesting as I'm faced with the same weekend of weather and similar plans I've got two boxes of gator guard and a short bed...my plan of attack was to scuff the bed floor and sides, wipe down with wax and grease remover and roll it on. Be great to hear some experienced opinions in the meantime though

I used herculiner in my bed. Aside from their prep instructions I sanded all the surface rust down amd shot primer onto the bed floor. The application is pretty straight forward, but the second coat is somewhat difficult cause you cant get in the bed.

Re: Anybody ever gatorguard their box?
As mentioned Gatorguard is very rough, I used Raptor on my son's CJ, a gallon inside and another gallon on the bottom side. Good, durable, textured but smooth finish. Much better for dragging bare calves over thresholds and laying arms on fenderwells. That being said, clean, scuff and clean again. I used an adhension promotion agent in an spray can that I got from the Sherwin Williams. It was over a year ago and it still looks great and has not lifted anywhere.

Herculiner, prep prep prep. I got by with 1 gal. I had painted with zero rust first. You do not want any shiny when you are ready to apply.

Another trick is to paint the area the color of the liner first, that way you are not using as much to cover color. I personally don't like this method cause I cant tell when I am thin.
