NV4500 swap question
Has anyone here swapped an nv4500 into their trucks? I got a 64 c10 2wd with a shot 200-4r in it that the PO swapped in and im looking to swap over to a stick shift with OD.
I've done some searching but everything seems to be geared towards 4x4 setups. Now my question is does anyone know the overall length of a 2wd nv4500 with the bellhousing attached. Mainly want to know so I can figure out if I have to mod the driveshaft any. Edit - I still might just keep it auto and go with a th350 or th400 not sure just tossing around ideas. Re: NV4500 swap question
the only difference if the tailshaft and housing and not having a transfer case. driveshaft will have to have a different frt yoke and the length of the shaft may have to be altered but you won't have that measure until you have the trans in . if you are worried about the cost of the d/shaft then you won't be able to afford the 4500

Re: NV4500 swap question
So true! That being said, I have a 2wd shorty in mine. Let me know if you want the measurements.

Re: NV4500 swap question
Thanks. Just kinda tossing around some ideas right now and was just trying to figure out what all was gonna be involved in the swap. I had a line on a nv4500 at a local pull-a-part and they charge a flat rate for transmissions regardless of what kind it is so cost for the trans wasnt an issue (think it was about a $100 all together lol).
I still might end up putting this 400 inch pontiac thats sitting on the stand in my garage and if I do that I'm gonna put a th400 in it and call it done. I still have a bunch of bodywork to do yet and a few other things. Right now I just have too many ideas in my head for this truck and I'm trying to narrow them down lol. |
