Custom made hidden compartments??
I'm a hunting/gun guy (and no offense to those of you who are not) and I was talking to a couple of shop friends of mine who have made custom compartments in their vehicles for their hunting rifles, pistols and shotguns for hunting, self defense, etc. Some of them sounded practical, some of them sounded like James Bond..
Found a couple and thought it was pretty cool way to secure/store one. I'd really like to make one for inside the cab, maybe in the door panel.. And yes I know there are laws involved in this sort of thing that may vary from state to state but I was wondering if anyone on here has seen or done this to any of their trucks. Any pics? Holsters? Gun racks?

Re: Custom made hidden compartments??
I haven't done it to my trucks but back in the old days I used to always carry mine in the usual place -under the seat. On my trailblazer, while traveling, I just place it in the factory door compartment.
I wouldn't cut my truck for it but a pullout or sliding compartment under the seat could be a good alternative option. I heard someone say that behind the seat when the tank has been moved to the rear frame would be a good place for a rifle rack.

Re: Custom made hidden compartments??
The first pick is a factory Dodge bed option. It's been fitted with custom holders. The other looks like a factory seat modded to hold the gun case or maybe a factory compartment fitted to hold guns.I think the tank location or under the seat is a great option since they would be concealed and the cab locks would add a layer of protection.

Re: Custom made hidden compartments??
Had a gun rack back in the 90s that fit in my Chevy trucks. It was a shelf that went up over and in front of your head. The sun visors had to be removed, but I don't use them anyway so it was perfect for me. Actually, I think you could reattach them to the gun shelf, but I never did. It was long enough for a bolt rifle w/ 26" brl or anything that would fit where it would. Don't know if they're still available but they were discreet and handy.

Those overhead racks are still being made. They are in the Cabela's catalog.
