k5 floor pan removal help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Im trying to remove the floor pans in a 69 k5 , trying to save as much as I can for a patch on my 70 (mainly gonna use the seat platform area and behind it to where it meets the bed floor. I have it cut all around from up above. I dont have a lift and am working on it outside, so I havent been under it yet. Where else do I have to cut to lift it out. The rocker boxes are shot so Im only saving the floor pan as you see it from above. Anybody have experience doing this? Thanks

Got pics.? Body mount bolt and spot welds along the outrigger. Seperate at factory seam where the floorboard meets the firewall. Then cut the floorboard at the toekick. There is also a doubler plate at the body mount bolt, about 6" square

Ive got pics in my build, check them out. I think i even marked where the spot welds are....

Thanks, ill check out your build pics and Ill get the sawzall back out and go to town again after work. Ill clean it up once its out as far as the spot welds.

I use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, not saying a sawzall wont work, but it tends to vibrate the sh!t out of everything. Plus, sometimes the blade is to long, and you may end up cutting something you dont want to....gas lines on the passenger side come to mind, and then theres the rear harness on the drivers side

I have done what you are doing. Pickup cab floor from AZ mocked to fit my blazer. If you can find the spot welds up top and drill the spot welds no other way around it pain but so is cutting the long bracket support

Got it out today, thanks. Not too great of a pan but they dont re pop the seat platforms do they? I think Ive only seen them on complete floorpans

This is interesting because my K5 has rust under the seat area and I haven't seen that section repo'd either. I've only seen it in a complete floor pan. Is that the only option?

Someebody may make them now but I dont have the most current catalogs. Heck , they repop the blazer bedsides now, they should be available anytime now so maybe these will be also??

I've looked at most of the online catalogs and haven't seen them or bedside. If anyone has a link, that'd be awesome.
