4x4 Crossmember

Not shilling these in anyway...... just a heads up. Not compatible with stock 5.3 compressor, so I am probably not a player......

I did...

I had to remove it after the install because the oil pan was too close to the cross member. I removed it and sent it back to have it fixed. I should have just fixed it myself. All they did was hit it with a cutoff wheel and then throw some paint on it. They claim they have never seen the issue I had before. If I had to do it over I am not sure I would have gone with the PF cross member.

Re: 4x4 Crossmember

Here is one member using it without any issues (except his pictures don't load anymore)

Firebirdjones

Gunny Davis lifted his 2 inches to clear

Another installation that had to be tweaked

I made my own so I have no experience with either. I just want to help give everyone options. I don't think any of these swaps will be without some level of fabrication skills. Good luck with your build

Re: 4x4 Crossmember

I wish DIY would do an LS Crossmember, like their stuff but????

In a perfect world I think I would do this:

The C channel from the DIY4x4 crossmember with a CPP universal LS Engine mount. I would get the channel undrilled, narrow the CPP mount, drill the C channel for the CPP mount. Then use existing frame holes to mount c channel permanently, if needed drill new frame holes.......

Re: 4x4 Crossmember

Good Stuff.. Thealien, when you modified your DIY crossmember, did the distance between the mounts change? I have one of thos and that would probably be my best deal, my K5 is lifted so interference would not be a problem.

Thanks
Josh

Sorry I didn't see this but most of the info is in my few threads. I could not get the DIY 4X4 crossmember to work even though they tried a few times and did not overcharge me for their time.

I ended up using the C channel, the plates that bolt to the C channel, the engine mounts and brackets.

From there I fabbed up some 1/4 wall 1 1/4 inch chrom molly tubing and joined everything together. It was a pain but worked fine for me. Wanting to stay at stock ride height added to my issues.
