Starting my first Square
After a few square S-series projects ('84 S15 350, bagged '91 S-Jimmy) I've decided to tackle my dream project, a '80 C-10 Shorty. Its quite rough for the time being but body panels are being replaced...up here in Northern Canada it's somewhat hard to find vintage trucks...
I'm building this truck as a memorial to my father who passed away a couple of years ago...he drove a '79 Scottsdale long bed for years....brings back many memories....so the '80 will have a updated version of the same paintjob (two tone root beer brown and cream or white in the middle, tan interior). it will be fully restored inside and out, and will have all the chrome trim . not much custom touches except for: 20's, 5-6 Static drop and a CD player, and a modern EFI engine. Should be a nice weekend cruiser.... Not afraid of a little rust up north here! Of course ill be replacing all but the frame, cab and bed floor! |

Re: Starting my first Square
Thanks everyone, in the midst of a long cold winter up here, no new pictures as everything is under 4 feet of snow, gathering parts to begin this spring. got new doors, rockers, corners, front tubs, dash pad. Fenders, box sides, rad support I will be ordering in two weeks. looks like I found a 6.0l LS from a wrecking yard for the engine swap...

Re: Starting my first Square
This looks like a nice project! Welcome. I am trying to fix up and make my '78 C10 more polished in memory of my dad. I inherited it from him after he passed. I will definitely be looking forward to this build. Nothing like fixing up a truck to honor a great person!

Re: Starting my first Square
Nice project, like the 6.0 litre idea. I am close by in Creighton/Flin Flon area. Mine is an 81 4x4. You may need to notch with that much static drop in the rear, will be close anyway. Keep us posted.
Rick/Mudman.

Re: Starting my first Square
Okay, well let me know, I'd be interested in watching it being built also.

Re: Starting my first Square
hopefully the Manitoba snow melts soon, only the roof of the truck is visible beneath drifting snow. taking a week of holidays in May to get the truck stripped down, old motor pulled and sent to have the bodywork done! did a bit of shopping while I wait, got my new taillight lenses and marker lights, fender emblems, rad cradle, cradle mounts, door hinge pins/bushings, bed sides, fenders. still searching for a hood, grille, tailgate and bumpers but those can be added later
