62 C10 Rear Shock # with drop

Hey I wanted to see if anyone had already dealt with this and would share their solution.

2" rear blocks shouldn't affect shock since lower mount is the same

4" rear drop coils are the only other factor

Was originally a 25.5" extended and 14.9" compressed shock with sleeved eyes on 7/16th's bolts...

Drilled my truck for 1/2" bolts (since I thought I had shocks figured out) so I would have to have 1/2" x 1.38 sleeved eyes on the ends now.

Any help is appreciated - rg

Re: 62 C10 Rear Shock # with drop

Looked at Gabriel's website and they have a replacement OEM-style shock in their Classic Shock line - Part Number 82086

Called their "Answerman" and got Daniel - seemed like a great guy who helped me with interchange information. Daniel came up with Gabriel Part Number 77413, (20 1/2" extended to 13" collapsed) that allowed for 1/2" bolts - but the eyelet width (1.62") was the issue.

I went to the neighborhood parts store and crossed that to Monroe 37091 (warehouse) and KYB 1924075 (in stock) for @ $30 each.

The best part was the KYB shock has a sleeve that is slightly longer than the eyelet's width, making it fairly simple to buzz them down to 1.38" for the factory brackets.

Happy, happy, ~ ev'r-body happy.
