67 C20 rear brake locked up
Has anyone knocked out the plugs in the backing plates to get at the adjuster?
My rear brakes are locked up and I need to release the shoes so I can move the truck. Brake lines are disconnected so there is no hydraulic pressure. |

If it's he latter, loosen the bleed valve and see if the pressure is released. If it does release, you may have obstructed rubber brake line hose on the rear above the axle shaft.

Re: 67 C20 rear brake locked up
has the truck set like that for a long time??
it could be that they are rusted and that is the cause of the problem// in that case i'd try putting it in reverse and gasin it to break it loose

I do have a cutting torch and I thought about just wasting the drums but it seems to me the brake linings are all that's keeping this from rolling and I wouldn't think they would rust. |

Re: 67 C20 rear brake locked up
Latest in my saga...
I wrapped the chain from a CM puller around the tire and pulled from the rear end of the frame (bed is off) and the wheels reluctantly turn but at least now I think they will roll and not just skid the tires. Perhaps it will free up as I tow it about 100 feet. I'm going to need to roll the chassis around by hand. |
