Plus they are being sectioned so they don't hang below the body.

Looking good. I did that to an S-10 Blazer I built back in 1985. I first sectioned the excess out of the middle, then realized only after tacking it back together that the license plate area was now too small. So I grabbed another bumper and took the excess out of both sides this time. I also studded it and shaved the rub strip off. Lots and lots of hours in it, but it was one of those little details that reallllllly make a difference.
