Please don't hate, off topic...
I got a deal on this that I couldn't pass up, only $500 more than I could afford...
Seriously though it's in great shape and it gives me something to cruise while I'm building the 57. The ad read : "Nice old Truck. Runs Great. Mostly original. Seat covering and Wheels are not original to year" I found it advertised just a 2hr drive away and the owner agreed to hold it for a couple days until I could come and see it. A very nice guy and a real gentleman, he had owned it for nearly 20 years and barely drove it. The engine is a rebuilt 312 V8 and the beautiful paint was done in the late 80's or early 90's and is still show quality.

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
No hating here! Looks good from what I can see. Let's see some better, closer photos.
I don't know if the moderators care but I wouldn't mind seeing more of it. I'm a Chevy guy through-and-through but there are a few Fords I actually like and the '56 F100 is certainly one of them. IF I were ever to own a Ford truck (and it's not likely) if it weren't a '32, it'd be a '40, a '56 and lately I've really been liking the '57's. |

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
Thanks guys, I'm a die hard Chevy guy too but I've always liked the 56 F100's ( I'd take a Model A coupe too if someone wanted to give me one!)
I will try to take some beter pics soon, just putting siding on my house right now and going to put a new roof on the shop this weekend. Yeesh, the stuff we have to around here when the weather gets nice!

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
I've always been a die hard Chev/GM/Holden man but there are a couple of Ford Muscle cars i like and when it comes to the 50s Ford pickup, I would have one anytime. A great looking truck that is hard not to appreciate.
Looks great. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
Really I don't think there are many people here that "hate Fords or Mopars.
I do think most of it is just buddies giving a ration of ..... Really that is a nice looking F-100. Actually we owe the f100 guys for getting the truck movement rolling in the early 70s. I remember when the only repop parts were f100. Last edited by mknittle; 07-11-2013 at 09:51 AM. |

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
how could anyone in this hobby hate on a fat fendered Ford. I don't care who you are, we've all wanted one in the past or look forward to owning one in the future. Congrats on bringing another beauty of a truck home.

56 Ford Cab is like a 32 Ford car frame one year only, worth some cash plus my favorite of all F100's. Congrats

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
56's are the best looking of that series IMO. BTW, my very first vehicle was a 53 Ford F-100 with a flat head V-8. Those trucks will always be special to me!

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
You scored a nice ride. Ford hit a home run right out of the gate with that truck.
You should do a thread in alternate tinkerings. Congrats. Posted via Mobile Device |

I used to get a ride to high school in one painted emerald-green metallic.
Everytime we hit rr tracks the steering wheel shook until he slowed down.(king pins?) I like your red one better! Congrats. |

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
When we were building the 53 stretch I spent many many hours working on the 56 ford of the painters, adding power rack and pinion IFS and lowering the rear and putting in AC, and this ford turned out really nice

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
Wow, thanks for the positive response everyone. This just shows why this is the best forum ever for old trucks and everyone on here is a class act. Let's just say I've been on some other places where I would've taken some serious heat for showing something that's "not what we go for on here..."
Solidaxle that is a sweet looking truck! I've seen the work you do on your own stuff and I'm sure the owner was very happy with any work you did on that. I will try to get some more pics this weekend, it's pretty stock and I plan to keep it that way, at least for now. First custom trucks I remember when I was a teen were a 48 Ford with big boots on the back and flatbed with stake sides and a rootbeer brown metallic with flames 56 Ford. I thought those trucks were so cool. Edit: Here is an old pic I found of that rootbeer 56 that first got me interested in custom classic trucks! This was in a town called Williams Lake, BC and goes back about 35 years but you can see how it influenced me (check out my 57 in my avatar!)

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
I Totally agree. I am a Chevy guy but, I don't hate any fat fendered trucks. That one is beautiful. I would cruise it any day. The ONLY thing that I don't like about them is 100% builder induced. Most guys don't do their homework when it comes to lowering them and the front wheels end up too far back in the openings. BUT---That isn't Henry's fault.

Re: Please don't hate, off topic...
The only thing wrong with that truck is that it isn't mine. I've had a 53 and a56 F100 and loved them both. Here is a pic of my 56 with me and my youngest son, taken about 35 years ago. I bought it from the original owner, a neighbor of mine, and it only had 25K miles. It had tons of rust though, from sitting under a tree for several years. I still have the owners manual and a "Ford Truck Options" brochure that came with it.
