what is this electrical connector!!?? HELP
OK,
so I have been trying to trace out my ignition circuit on my 1966 c10, the purple wire running from the ignition switch goes to this thing...this thing is located on the steering column, under the dash close to the firewall. It has 4 terminals; dark green and light green on one side, and 2 purples on the other. The purple coming from the starter goes to it, and the purple from the ignition switch goes to it as well...Long story short, according to wiring diagrams, I don't see this thing anywhere on any diagram, since it seems to split the circuit for the ignition (purple wire) I decided to jump it and see if I could get the truck to crank. it cranks when I jump the purple connectors. I could not get the truck to crank before this discovery... what is this thing??? I enclosed a pic |

Re: what is this electrical connector!!?? HELP
That is a combination neutral safety and back up light switch. I assume your truck has the original auto trans column?

Re: what is this electrical connector!!?? HELP
It does not appear on most wiring diagrams, because there were a lot less auto trucks than manual trans, then. At least that has been my experience, most diagrams do not cover the options for these trucks.

Yep, the purple circuit is the starter solenoid and the greens are your back up lights!

It has side to side adjustment for your back up lights.
