power drum brakes????

about a year ago I purchased on the parts board a master cylinder and booster and proportioner setup supposedly for a drum brake setup. I finally am getting to the point that im ready to install it. BUT, im questioning now that is there really a such thing as power drum brakes?? Any input would be great.

Re: power drum brakes????

Many vehicles had 4 wheel power drum.
Like 67 Buick Electra 225.

Re: power drum brakes????

One thing, though, all-drums do not use a proportioning valve, just a distribution block.

edit: ya beat me by a minute while I was typing!

Re: power drum brakes????

But, they didn't have a proportioning valve with drum/drum brakes. A dual chamber master starting in '67 would have had a distribution block that contained a switch. That switch operated a dash, brake lamp to indicate a malfunction in either the front or rear brake system. That lamp would also be lite by the e-brake.

Absolutely. My '70 has them. work better than the manual, and my wife can drive it. Haven't yet been able to justify the cash outlay to upgrade to Disc yet
