Re: tonneao covers anyone?

I ordered an extang blackmaxx? model 2310 last week and it just arrived yesterday. Still have some sanding and paint to spray before I can put it on but it looks to be quality. Got it for 209.xx shipped straight from extang.

Re: tonneao covers anyone?

Trying to keep it on the DL since I haven't seen it yet or heard of anyone doing it

But it's going to be a wood tonneau cover with a twist

I love the old school wood beds and wanted to integrate that in somehow
Ill draw up a cheesy picture for you of my plans

Re: tonneao covers anyone?

I'm not a big fan of tonneau covers for style. But I've run them on both of my 67-72 trucks for a bunch of reasons:

Going to a place where sticky fingers exist is one. Trash flying out on the road is another. Etc., etc.

Right now, because the wood I used is probably easily funkified by sun or water, I'm using this set-up. I can pull it off in about two minutes at home.
Or, I can roll it up in that same amount of time and stash the bows if I find myself wanting to load something big when I'm mid-ride. No holes. No scratches.
And, it's water tight.

Like I said, it's a PIA sometimes. And not the most pretty. A carbon fiber roll up would be nice....But so would the $$$$$.

Re: tonneao covers anyone?

here's a pick of my roll-up pace edwards. It is powdercoated aluminum. It is lockable and secure. I have the optional sport rails. The standard rails have a more flush fit. I do not have the optional power slider, but it is really easy to open and close without it. The tailgate locks from the inside so once the cover is locked, it would be very difficult to break in.

Re: tonneao covers anyone?

Thanks Tinkermc. I should also point out that it effectively makes the 8 foot bed a 7 foot bed as the roll up canister takes up some room. There is about 6" of space below the roll up canister so it can still haul 4x8 pieces of plywood.

Hey Vegadesign,

That looks like it will be very heavy; how do you plan to attach it?

probably about 60lbs
it will be assisted by struts and a home made hinges
nothing spectacular because of the weight it will have
another thing that im doing different is it will hinge towards the passenger side instead of forward, so it will be massive

Re: tonneao covers anyone?

Gaylord Lids on mine.
It's a nice cover and very convenient. However I'd ditch it in an instant if I could easily and cheaply repaint and blend in the top of the bedcaps where the paint's worn off.
