Hey guys. I dont post here often i just lurk most of the time but I got this idea from user cramitthefrog. I take NO credit for coming up with this mod i just thought i'd show you how good it came out when i did it. The pictures arent the best.

There were a couple small holes under the radio, it fit perfect. I didnt have to drill or cut anything. I apologize if i didnt post the pictures correctly as this is my first time.

How'd you wire the aux input into the radio? I know some older GMs you can use the tapedeck input wires ( I did this on my reatta and used the exact same aux jack and everything) but in our trucks they're built into the radio.

Recian, take a look at this thread if you haven't already. I followed this step by step. His doesn't have the tape deck but i found that the two radios are very similar.

That's nice. For those of us who don't want to tear into a radio, I would suggest this...

Amazon.com: Scosche FM-MOD02 Universal Audio...
Tune radio to 88.1, flip switch, and you have aux.

I have this installed on both my Jeep CJ's and my 94 Accord. Works fine, and all you have to do is plug unit in between antenna plug and head unit, and run hot and ground wires.

I'm going to put one in the 83 GMC, and mount the Aux plug above the lighter in the ashtray, and a small toggle switch for power beneath the lighter, so it will be out of sight when not in use.

Think they make them that run wirelessly through the radio freq, but this one is hard wired in like the old FM Modulated CD players and gives a clearer sound.

I was going to do this too but then I found this adapter that came with my XM radio sitting in the glove box that I had never used since I went the FM modulator route for the XM. This adapter works great for my iPod!

Yeah i've seen those before. I definitely would have went that way but unfortunately my tape deck is shot and no longer works at all so the aux plug works great for me.

Just wondering, can you some how adapt a usb port to a factoy radio?
