Built a Fiberglass Dash

Made this a while back. I unfortunately don't have finished installed pics or anything, but where there were big holes (like for the speakers) i made a frame out of wood and wrapped it with grille cloth.

anyways heres the pics:

after smoothing out all of the cracked stuff and filling it with some kitty hair and priming it.

and after fiberglass resin and filler, and lots and lots of sanding. and paint.

I know the paint isn't anywhere near perfect but i tried (first paint job ever!)

Everyone always asked me if it gave a glare because of the sun or whatever but I never had a problem.

Thanks for looking feel free to comment!!!

Shweet! Now that you went to the work of making the mold you should take orders.
Soon, you'll (hopefully) be rich.

I agree. Wish I was that good with fiberglass. Having seen yours, I don't think I can talk trash about fiberglass dashes anymore. But, most other people's look like poop.

Re: Built a Fiberglass Dash

I'll be honest, during the build it did look like poop. lol. but being my first experience with fiberglass I would just recommend that people practice practice practice.

Get out there and try it!!!! nervous? what do you have to lose, 90% of our trucks probably have broken cracked dashes anyways.

if you're using fiberglass chop mat, remember to dab dab dab, you will not brush resin onto chop mat. pour a little on, cut your bristles on your brush just a little bit shorter (paint brush) then dab the crap out of it until there are no more air bubbles, and repeat until desired strength or thickness.

if you guys have any questions feel free to pm me or reply on here.
