Has anyone ever used the radiator linked?

Mostly looking for fit. Bolt in? for a hundred bucks more I can buy one from a site vendor, but it has a two week lead time, where the Griffing ships tomorrow. Any experience with this specific model?

I dont need a crazy big radiator, I have a more or less stock 350 that will maybe get an rv cam down the road.

Climate is northern and souther CA.

Do a little research before buying. The Griffin radiator is an epoxy built unit and as such, can not have a core replacement if ever needed. Some of the other brands are fully welded construction and can be repaired, if needed. Something to consider.

Ya I mentioned it in the original post, but they want $425+shipping and a two week lead time. The griffin is 340 and free shipping from summit with no wait time.

Ive been reading up on that specific model and they seem to get pretty good reviews from the muscle car guys. Tanks and everything are fully welded.

Just curious, why are you not looking at your local auto parts store? Direct fit, usually in stock, can return easily if there is a problem, cost way less than the Griffin, and will easily cool even a built big block...... Worst case you would have to buy 4 core brackets and cushions because most only sell 4 cores now. You may have to do that for the Griffin and other on lines also. Returning a used on-line radiator can be problematic.

One thing to get is a 2 core radiator. In the case of radiators more cores is not better.

This, go to Oreilly's or NAPA and get a radiator, much easier.

Ended up buying one from pro performance, a vendor here. The two core aluminum from what i read will cool my near stock setup as good or better then a stock replacement from the local oreileys. Even with shipping it was about the same price. We will see how it works out

I got this one from Classic Industries for the '72 c-20. Supposed to fit and it's actually a 2 core. Looks really nice.

Our two week lead time is because we build everything to order by hand, right here in the USA. We are a small American business, and rather than keeping lots of inventory on hand and having higher prices, we chose to go with a build-to-suit option since many customers have different combos. mine is pretty. I thought I paid more than 425 though. Ohhh I got electric fans and something else as well.

I have the Griffin radiator mentioned at the start of the thread. I ordered directly from Griffin and paid a little more. Amazing that you pay more direct from the manufacturer versus Summit! I paid the extra because of the advise and tech support I received from Griffin when I was researching which radiator to buy. All in with two 1600CFM fans, shroud, harness, radiator, and shipping it was just over $700. Mine is a BB with high energy cam. A stock 4 row copper would not cool the engine.

Thanks, we take pride in what we build. The discounted forum member price of our radiator is $425, and then fans / shroud / controller are on top of that.

RnD I will probably give you a call in a few weeks. Do you have a shop I can bring the truck to and swap radiators? I am on my second Griffin radiator in 15k miles and it is starting to get that sweet smell again. This one and the last one both leaked along the top row near the epoxy seals. I know this is an old thread and the op selected his radiator already but imho Griffin radiators suck.

My first one leaked. Griffin repaired it for free. What they told was not to synch it down tight. You need rubber bushings on the bottom and top and make sure you can move the radiator up and down and side to side with moderate pressure. If it is synched down like the stock radiators it will crack. I've not had any more issues since I followed their advice.

Thanks for the feedback but I am not sure that makes sense. I have fresh rubber grommets using the stock two bolt hold downs on top. There is no tight or loose just bolted or unbolted. I don't dought that was their feedback but it only proves my experience that their product sucks. Imagine what their feedback would be once the radiator jostles around and gets damaged because the hold downs are left loose... ie sorry warranty denied due to bad mounting.

RnD what are your thoughts on this? Do you advise loosely mounting radiators?

Do you know off hand is there a weight savings compared to a factory say 3 core radiator?

tsetsaf, we recommend bolting them down to factory specs. We don't want the radiators moving in the mounts. The rubber isolators are to reduce vibration, but aren't meant to allow the rad to shift all around. This is yet another reason why we refuse to use epoxy on our radiators. We started in the radiator business building radiators for circle track cars, which take a ton of abuse.

Custom_68, our radiators weigh in around 23-25lbs and that is with dual 1" cores (2" total core thickness, same as a traditional 4-core thickness)
