engine will not run???

Hey guys just looking for some advice. I put a 350 4bbl in my 66 gmc and can not get it to run. It willcrank fine and fire instantly but will rev sky high then stall out right away..no idle at all. It is a 350 with edelbrock intake and edelbrock 1405 carb. The engine is a used one I know runs good. Think it could be a carb issue? I do not have any vacuum leaks that I can see or hoses off anywhere...where should I start??

Check the base of the carb, at the back. If it's a new carb, you will need to install the allen head plug for power brakes, if you do not have them. This is an easy thing to miss(done it several times, myself)

That would/could give you a something like you are experiencing.
