shifting into the seat

I got my New seat in that's from a 98-01 dodge.Im putting it in a 65 Chevy truck.anyways I got it in and well you can tell from the pics about the shifter.its a th350 with a b&m shifter and the engine is a vortec 350. my question is are there any way I can move the shifter? or turn the shifter around so that its facing the other way toward the window. if you have any solutions to this problem please let me know. I really don't want to have to look for another seat

now im no expert by no means but it seems ur shifter is set too far back. mine is a 350th and you can see in pic shifter is farther forward allowing more room. i would simply swirch to a different shifter. i think that seat looks good (except the whole seatbelt thing) lol

can someone please explain this to me I was reading on the B&M website and it said since I have is cable operated shifter the one that looks like a 4spd one it will fit a bench seat. what I want to know is how does work.how can I make my shifter so sorry for my bench seat so I'm able to go down to low gear

Using a bit of imagination and your original shifter arm, modify yours & weld up a copy of the arm like Geezer suggested. Should be a simple project--and just a few dollars.

Ok guys figured it out.I just need a longer Rod that goes from the shifter to the trans. The rod thats on it is threaded so I need something on it so I can screw another rod on it.then move the shifter in the middle of the floor. here's the pictures I took from under the truck and excuse my drawings.the red Circle is where the shifter is now and the blue X is all open floored going towards the dash where I want to put shifter once I get a longer rod. by the way can somebody tell me what that Rod is called and maybe where I can get a longe one.thanks

Hello, a-r, I'd call it a shifter rod--quite technical, huh? Take it with you to Lowes: ask for a 'coupling nut'[get a longer nut vs. a shorter one for strength], 2 flat and 2 lock washers, and a piece of same-threaded rod; cut new rod to desired EXTRA length to make your original longer. Threads are likely fine-threaded sae(not likely metric); diam., I'd be guessing; hence the reason to take your rod and get what fits--regardless what size it may 'read'! Total cost just a few bucks & wind up with a longer, ADJUSTABLE rod. Enjoy the project! (Geezer & I prolly still like the modified shifter arm idea better, or at least as well; but we likely have welders that u may not have invested in-----yet! A welder & welding skills are priceless if one does much DIY work/fabs/mods on these jewels.)

I got the shifter in but I still need to adjust it. I have every gear but reverse so tomorrow im going figure out the deal

Not used to seein one that appears to have the shifter left of center. Is there room for your leg on the gas pedal? I ask because it looks like a tight fit.

I wish I could take a pressure washer to the bottom of my truck to wash all the road grim and crud off it.after working on the truck i come up looking like im going black face for Halloween.thats my biggest problem with this truck that And im bipolar so I have 0 patience working one once I get motivated

Can someone tell me which gear the trans needs to be in so I can hookup the linkage.its a Th-350 Trans.I have all gears but park,reverse but I can climb under the truck and manually put it in gear.

Most folks adjust em in park. Sometimes you'll have more success putting it in drive and adjusting it from there.
