Re: Found Rust :(
Ye it hasnt got to where its real soft or pushing through but I wasnt sure if sanding it down as good as I can would be good enough or if there was something else I needed to do, this is more or less my first time doing this kind of stuff. Got a little experience in a few things but not necessarily done them in a car so its all a learning experience for me..

Re: Found Rust :(
Thanks diesel, did look just like mine.. So looks like that will be the route I will go.. As far as noise mine isnt too terribly bad, but it also had the original floor stuck rusted into the floor which felt wet i guess just soaked in, then some pink matting on top of that then the vinyl covering. Now its just down to metal. lol

Re: Found Rust :(
Cant seem to find the wire wheel I used to have so just a quick question before I run to the store and get dumbfounded.. lol. I had 1 of the ones that had like the brass wires on it, are their different ones or a certain kind or style that would work better than another??

Re: Found Rust :(
grab some flat ones & some cupped ones, cheapies are good enough, there just gonna get wrecked anyways.
if you go the por 15 route, spray their Prep & Ready liberally on the floor & keep it wet for at least a half hour. will convert what rust is left & etch the metal for a really good bite. oh yeah, you might want to cover EVERYTHING in your shop, unless your outside, & a mask to stop the brown boogers |

Re: Found Rust :(
Well got the passenger side pretty good as far as the wheel goes til i hit it with the sander, but I did have a few small holes and one about thumb size in the back left corner but other than that not too bad considering what I could have ended up with, will post pics when I get done with the driver side, well back to it

Re: Found Rust :(
POR is just paint, use some metal prep (2% or so acid) remove the rust, neutralize then paint POR or what ever. Most importantly fix the leak(s), usually leaking windshield gasket and side window and door gaskets.

Re: Found Rust :(
If you buy the entire kit. Por 15 comes with a metal cleaner and a treatment. You don't need to mm use anything else.

Re: Found Rust :(
rust inhibitor. i would also crawl underneath and coat that as well. because if you just coat the top its not going to protect it from the enviroment underneath.
