Can I convert a 69/70 grill to a 71/72 grill?
So my 71 came with a 69/70 grill with marker lights in the grill and "Chevrolet" stamped across the center. I prefer the 71/72 but they are pretty expensive. The grill I have has some dents/isn't perfect/probably couldn't sell it for much-looks like I could buy a inner grill in the 71/72 style, cut out the 69 inner grill and replace. Any advice thoughts?

Don't cut that grille! The 69-70 is way more valuable, even if its a little dented. You can find the 71-2 grilles on CL and at swap meets for almost nothing.

To my knowledge there are no aftermarket companies that are reproducing the '69/'70 grille shells with the Chevrolet letters on them, so the originals are still worth something even if they're dented up a little. And I agree with cubber, even in my part of the country I see really nice '71/'72 grilles on craigslist often.

Yes you can. I did it on this truck I built. Just cut carefully and fold the edges with duck bill pliers.
I used a billet grille because that's what I wanted. Posted via Mobile Device |
