Re: dashpad question!

It should fit but I also know some parts are different from 73-80 to 81-87

Re: dashpad question!

I know that you can use 81 up in the 80 down as long as you use the 81 up gauge bezel with it. Wouldn't see why the opposite wouldn't work.

Re: dashpad question!

The VIN is in a different location for 73-74, 75-80 and 81-87 I believe.

Re: dashpad question!

I'm using a 89 in my 78, the vin hole is empty, cause it's in the jamb, below the catch
my 79 is on the dash as is the 88 of course.(i believe 79 on Vin is up)
the 78/79 pad with the later bezel leaves a funny gap at the top(can't find pic i took)
but it's because the pad starts closer to the bezel no over hang, seen here in old shots of the 78

should be on the drivers lock pillar for 73-78, then 79-87 has it on the dash...

Re: dashpad question!

The 81-87 dash pads will work in older trucks but the older 73-80 dash pads will not cover the gauge bezel of the 81-87 trucks. The bezels are thicker on 81 and up trucks and will stick out past the pad. I would call the guy you bought it from and see if he has the gauge bezel from the truck it came from. it wwould probably look good in your truck looking at the shape of the pad and trim. That's a nice pad you bought. If you end up not using it I would be interested in buying it but I bet you could sell it for a good profit locally without having to bother with shipping.
