Block Casting Numbers
Is there an easy to get these with the engine in the truck?

After you have it clean really good. Wire brush it if possible to get all the caked on goo off. You can use a mirror, you can also goto wally world (Walmart) and get some play doh, silly putty, or aluminum foil. You can use them to get the imprint of the block. Some numbers maybe harder to read like 8s and such but that's why you need the surface to be really clean.
Other place is right under the alternator where the metal gas line comes up from the fuel pump. There is a pad on the block in front of the cylinder head. Might wanna take the alternator off if its still on there. There will be some numbers and letters. I haven't a clue how to figure those out. Looks like Geek to me. I haven't found anything to tell me how to read it or understand it. But that is the 2 places I know of on a sbc.

Look in the LMC catalog. Also, go to the post that says: Help Identifiying Engine Or something like that. There is a link in there that will help you with that.
