th400 kickdown switch wiring
Anyone know how to wire in a kickdown for a th400 swap? The tranny's in there already and I don't have ANYTHING for the kickdown at all. I can get the switch from the dealer but have no idea how to wire it.
Thanks in advance, Roger

There are two different setups on the kickdown switch. 71-72 has the switch on the inside attached to the acelerator bracket and the 70 back have the switch on the carburetor. They both work the same as far as the wiring goes. I will describe the 71-72 as an example. With the switch mounted to the bracket, run one wire to the "unfused switched ignition" terminal on the fuse panel. the other wire is connected to the switch and routed through the firewall down to the solenoid on the transmission.
When you floor the accelerator, the switch sends 12 volts to the solenoid on the transmission. Here is a picture of the 72 style switch. Jim Last edited by JimKshortstep4x4; 07-08-2003 at 09:26 AM. |

Thanks Jim, sounds straight forward to me, I'll let you know how it goes.
