Speedo inconsistent
Hi everyone,
I just put a new speedo driven gear in to correct my speed and it did fix it.... sort of. At 50mph my speedo is dead on. But at 25mph the speedo reads 10 mph slow. At 75mph the speedo again reads 10 mph slow. Is there a way to fix this? is my speedo just bad? or is that just how they are. I'm running an MY6 transmission and have a 36 tooth driven gear (not entirely sure what the drive gear is) Thanks for the help! |

Re: Speedo inconsistent
i would say you have a speedo head problem if it is slow at 25 it will be slow at all speeds lets say its 10% slow at 100 it would read 90 at 60 it will read 54 at 25 it will read 22 1/2

Re: Speedo inconsistent
I'm curious if the odometer is off as well.

Re: Speedo inconsistent
i was kind of thinking it had to be the head. Can those be repaired or do i need a new speedo? and the odometer would be off as well i assume because its based off the speedometer

Re: Speedo inconsistent
the odometer can be correct ( gear driven) the way his speedo (magnetic driven) is operating .................................................................................................... ....................... mwipp most places don't "rebuild" any more as a new speedo head is not much more than the labor and parts to rebuild they just put your face and needle on the new head
