My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Finally got a few things tweaked on the 72 Blazer I recently grabbed - an Orange Co., Flint built, CA emissions med olive/saddle 72 CST w A/C, single wall top, th350, posi. Added a tilt column, tach/clock cluster, aux battery tray/harness, under dash lights, and steelies.... 13 years since my last K5 and glad to be back in one!!
Will get better pics up of the steelies.....

Thanks - I'll post up some better shots of the steelies when I can swing some time for a photo shoot. I like the rallies too but the steelies a bit better.

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Very nice work....cant say i dislike the ralleyes, but the steelies bring something else out in the truck. Guess its the color, brings the truck together. Nice detail work on the engine.
Didnt know they made a locking gas cap for our trucks....welldone

That thing is a freakin gem. The white steelies look perfect. way better than the rallyes.
How much lift is on that Blazer? It looks good with the 33's. |

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Thanks all! Got lucky with one that's clean and solid. I can't wait to remove the top but that may have to wait until the spring. It's coming with me to Montana next month and may have to stay put in the garage over the winter.
It's has a PO installed 4" lift - down the road I'd like to drop it to a 2-2.5" lift. Pete

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
LOL! Yeah, the spare looks bare as there 'aint no cap there....my caps are packed - will get one on once settled up in Montana. The truck is a real dog off the line but will cruise at 80 mph no problem. It's such a dog that I have to be careful pulling out into traffic. Is this the effect that 33" tires have with a (what I assume is) a 3.07 rear?

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Thanks Jeff! 10.5 I believe - my K20 has 12.5" on 33" for a 16.5 wheel. Would prefer to have the 10.5 on my K20 also but BFG no longer makes anything other than a 12.5" for a 16.5 wheel...

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
DeadheadNM -
33" tire with 3.07 highway gears will definitely take the get and go out of your Blazer. I run 4.10/4.11 gears with 35" tires and have good acceleration from stop and decent highway cruising ability. I did add a Gear Vendors overdrive to bring the RPMs down a bit more on the highway. With 33" tires, 3.56 ratio might be your best bet, as 4.10 will be too much. I belive the manual equipped Blazers came with 3.56 ratio right out of the box. |

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Personally I'd go 3.73 with 33s. I run 4.10 with 35s and its just perfect. Real nice gem you got there. I bought mine in Cali but it was gutted. Still ain't much better. Wish I would have spent a little more time and cash and found a cleaner more put together one like yours.

Re: My "new" 72 CST K5 w/w out steelies
Nice Blazer Pete, I like the steelies and caps the best. I had ralleys on my old Blazer but wanted steelies and caps. I can't believe your moving to snow country, I hope you like it.
