What else is needed? Power Brake Swap
So I just scored a Brake Booster, and Master Cylinder from SSBC. They are new. I am guessing a proportioning (However you spell it) valve, and hook the vacumn up with check valve (I think the booster has the valve in it).
I am going to replace all rubber hoses in the brake system, and check wheel cylinders, and brake condition this weekend. Truck is a 1967 Chevy C20 8-Lug |

Re: What else is needed? Power Brake Swap
Did you get the rod that goes from te pedal to the booster? The one you have now probably will not be the right length if you have manual brakes. Also, is the new stuff for a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck. Be aware that the front and rear reservoirs are reversed between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton master cylinders and requires minor changes in the hard lines to install a 3/4 ton unit in a 1/2 truck. Inline Tube sells the conversion tubing.

Re: What else is needed? Power Brake Swap
Be honest I do not know. I got a Master Cylinder and Power Brake unit that the guy tells me are SSBC and are new. He has a 1967 Chevelle but it is a prostreet so I do not know if it were originally intended for that car or his truck. He sold me both for $50.00 We are meeting up tomorrow or Saturday to complete the sale. My truck is down with the front rubber hoses blown off, so I am replacing them, and rebuilding the brakes. I do not want a repeat of them going out. That was not fun. I want to make sure any rubber parts that are dry rotten get replaced, and when talking about his, the master and brake booster were offered and I jumped.
I will see if he has the correct rod or if I have to source it myself. If I have to source it, who do you recommend I order one from? |
