LS 24 tooth to 58 tooth reluctor

Anyone know what it takes to replace a 58 tooth reluctor engine with a 24 tooth reluctor engine?

An engine hoist?

Do you want to put the whole engine in and swap everything over to the 24x setup?
OR
Are you trying to swap the engine but change the 24x setup to run the 58x equipment.

You will have to swap the crank to a 58 tooth crank, a new sensor on the block and possibly a different ECM, not sure if you can change a computer from 24x to 58x with a tuner. If you have all the 24x stuff I would run that.

Probably a little easier than swapping the crank.
Edit; this only works for the down conversion, so running the GenIV wiring in an older setup.
What are you trying to install that requires a 24x reluctor? That would mean your currently running a NNBS truck, or GENIV wiring, but installing the older ls series into the truck?

Help me understand here a bit.

Otherwise; yes, swapping the crank /crank tigger etc would be the result.

Re: LS 24 tooth to 58 tooth reluctor

I have a 2007 GMC 2500 pickup with 6.0 58x that I would like to pull and use in a 71 pickup and replace it with a 2002 5.3 24x that I have. Just trying to decide if its worth the trouble or expense.

why not just put the 5.3 in the 71 and leave your fully assembled truck....just, that.

That would be less of a headache and cheaper too.
