A/C LInes...can't find 'em..HELP!!

Ok...I've been dealing with Advanced Auto, but here is what's up. I ordered a the a/c hose assembly for my '85 1/2 ton. the lines that came were about 8 feet long and they were separate, not mounted together like they should be when they bolt to the compressor. i then had them look in their computer and they have what looks like the lines, but they are listed for an '84. i had them order them, so if they aren't the right ones, i'll just not have to pay for them. LMC is out of stock for 5 weeks on them. does anyone know where i can get them quickly?

Here is a pic of the lines they just ordered that show they are for an '84. By the way, the lines they ordered me for an '85 were not only 8 feet long, but they were separate..not mounted together. The compressor they ordered has the same fitting mounting style as the factory compressor...I'm confused.

May try CarQuest if you have one near you and there's always teh dealer.

Never would've believed that one.
Sounds like "leak-city" too me.
I got a new line at the local Chevy place.........it was like $65 or so.
Two years and no leaks.

Try looking in the yellow pages for hose specialty shops. They probably can fabricate you some hose assemblys with fittings or try a radiator/AC shop, who may have some in stock for your application. 5 weeks backorder at LMC is a bunch of s**t! You might also try ChevyDuty too.

I bought new hoses for my 86 at NAPA and they were a perfect fit. Have you tried them?

Chevy changed the routing of the lines somewhere between '83 and '86. My '86 runs both lines together above the engine. Gerardo's lines on his truck (an '83) runs one of the lines over the top of the radiator and one over the engine.

If you look up the '85 model in the online catalog at this site (they provide pics of the parts), http://www.carlisleautoair.com/ , it appears that they list both for the '85.

I am not sure what style the '85 uses. Could this be what is confusing you?

I would go down to an A/C shop and have them build you a set if you can't find the coupled hoses. I was learning about these trucks when I had my A/C lines made. I would redo them by running both hoses over the engine instead of over the radiator.

Actually your post and links helped me a lot. I looked at the pics of that guy's truck. If you look at the post a few lines up from this one, I attached a picture of the lines that advanced ordered for me. they look like the same design as is pictured in that guy's website. I really don't care which design I get, considering they will both work. Either way, they will be going over something hot...either the radiator, or the motor. The lines advanced ordered for me are a little expensive, but i can't complain since i got all the parts for a discount. I bought all parts (condenser, compressor/clutch, evaporator, accumulator, orifice tube, pressure switch, idle stop solenoid, and that hose assembly for about $425) <---not too bad in my opinion.

good news. my friend at advanced just found lines that should be what i'm looking for. they are also cheaper than the design that runs across the radiator. she had to look up an '87 truck for some reason. do these look like the correct lines???

After all of that work are you going to change to 134 !!
