Shock replacement recommendation for factory ride height C20
Anyone have a good recommendation for replacement shocks for my factory ride height C20? Mine are on their last legs and while Ive got the entire truck torn apart, its probably time to replace them.
Thanks |

AutoZone has a bunch to choose from that have a lifetime warranty. I replace my Gabriel gas shocks every few years for free.

I'd avoid those. C20's ride pretty rough as it is.

These are what I put on mine: http://catalog.monroe.com/catalogPar...dStatus=ACTIVE
I found them on Rock Auto then got Advance Auto to price match so I could pick them up in the store and save the shipping.

I'm in agreement with the above posters. Don't install something that will make your C20 ride any rougher. I use the same Monroe 34817 shocks on my own daily driver C20. I even went as far as swapping C10 springs in.

Re: Shock replacement recommendation for factory ride height C20
I just put Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks on my C10 and am very happy with the ride improvement. If they make that shock for your C20 I highly recommend them.

Re: Shock replacement recommendation for factory ride height C20
I just bought some Sensa-Tracs from Rock Auto for my 69 C20 after reading good reports here. I have not put them on yet. The price for "wholesaler closeouts" was only $16.74 and there is a 4 for the price of 3 Monroe rebate if it actually applies to the closeouts. I should know in a couple weeks.

Re: Shock replacement recommendation for factory ride height C20
Yup, that's what I'm saying. They have Sensa-Tracs that are not closeouts for $28 and change if anyone prefers to pay more. The ones I got had a sticker over the Monroe name that said Big A Sensa-Trac. Guess that means they've been lying around about 15 years since that's when Big A went out of business. Seem fine though. Great prices on the Gas Magnums, too.

I'm running Gas Magnums, ride nice and hold up well. The Load Levelers are good if you haul heavy stuff or trailers. They 'take up the slack' pretty well.
