Finally Upgraded to an FM Radio

Perfect solution for me! So much better than the AM it's had for 41 years. No dash cutting, no glove box modification to hide a head unit, etc. No more than I drive the truck, this makes the most sense.

I thought the truck may revolt when it heard some of the trashy songs on FM but it did okay.

Clean install! Looks nice! I still haven't put any tunes in my truck because I'm afraid I won't hear the onset of a rod knock or something coming apart!

Re: Finally Upgraded to an FM Radio

All kidding aside, it sounds just fine unless you are audiophile. Sounds much better than the speaker it is sitting above. I was racking my brain trying to figure out what route to take to get FM in there and finally decided on just using my iPhone with an external speaker. Out of the blue, I thought "Why not just buy a pocket radio and sit it on the dash?" Glad I did. I think it actually looks at home on an old truck dash. I can see my Grandpa doing this if he had ever wanted FM in there when he drove it.

I already got that part out of the way. Ha! Dropped an exhaust valve on July 4th of this year. Rebuild is done now and she's purring like a kitten!

Radio shack has a portable unit that you can recharge that will set on the center console that sounds decent. I 'm goin to try and get one soon, I hope.

Re: Finally Upgraded to an FM Radio

Your solution is similar to what I did. I bought a Bluetooth speaker for $59. It sounds way better and louder than it looks. It lasts for 5 hours on a charge, and charges right from my cig cell phone charger. I can stream music right from my phone, whether that's music I have on my device, or I use Google Play, Pandora, etc. Another cool thing, is that if I get a call, it mutes the sound automatically

Re: Finally Upgraded to an FM Radio

I drove a 70 model for 18 years before I found out you could use the AM radio in the PM....

Very cool. I like the looks of that. If I was more of a music guy, I'd go that route for sure but I pretty much just listen to our local FM stations.
