Question headers

What's the favorite header used, for 350 automatic tranny power steering. Is there such a header thats easy to install and you can actually get to your header bolts and plugs?

Re: headers

Roger, I bought a set through a board member tkorinek. They went in REALLY easy and look good. I haven't really heated them REALLY well but don't see any discoloration.

I don't have any real good pics but here are a couple.

Take note of the plug wires hanging in the first.....I am building wire retainers as the headers are BRUTAL on the wires. In the last pic you can see what I had to do to keep the wires from burning.

Re: headers

I also have the headmans on my 69 swb. They do hang a little low though. I believe headers from an A body chevelle will fit without hanging. You may have some issues routing exhaust though. I have a set of hooker super comps for my chevelle that I'm going to try to mock up once I get the 496 put in there. Unfortunately I don't have any chevelle headers to try with a sbc. I have a set of headmans for the 496 that are correct for the truck and the chevelle headers are almost identical, except they don't hang near as low and sort of sweep back a little farther while dropping. Hard to explain, but I could get you a photo of them side by side if that would help? Either way, I assume you want headers for more performance. Block huggers and mid length headers won't help you achieve nearly as much benefit as full tube headers. So in short, if you want performance, get yourself some full length long tube headers. Although the headmans hang low, they have one of the best flanges I've ever seen to prevent leaks.
