Opinions wanted!(bed)

Looked at this bed today.Very straight, not heavily used/beat up.Lots of surface rust(not real havy)and some original paint.Left bed side has some minor rot on the bottom but easily fixable.Wondering what the opinions are on a value?Guy is asking 500-,don't think he'll move much.

Re: Opinions wanted!(bed)

That guy must have had that bed in stock at his salvage yard since the early 70's on that pallet. I also think that when the "surface rust" is sanded off and there may not be any surface left. No really though, it is kinda hard for me to look at the pics of this bed with it being sanded[those are the worst] and trying to decide the value of someone else's stuff. Did you get to put your hands on it and rub down the side and see if there are deep pits in that "surface rust" or not. I would like to see a spot preferrbly the worst looking rough spot sanded with 80 grit before laying out cash. It is not that the money is out of line, it is weather or not you can even you it or it may need the whole thing wiped and covered with filler to smooth out the holes left by the harmless surface rust that doesn't look to harmless to me.I'm not saying not to buy this bed it may really be a great adventure to go get as long as your fully prepared to the down side. Well, If you need it. You can't buy cheap Repop crap for that. If it really is a straight as the pictures look. I say heck ya. With all that surface rust it is clear that there is not any hidden bondo on it.

It looks like there may have been/may still be a little around the trim holes. Even without a tailgate, that's still a very fair price. Have you priced out a new one complete? They're like $2,200-2,500 if you want a steel floor.

Offer $400 cash and be ready to pay $500. I would be willing to pay $500 for that if I needed it.

I ran my hands all over it,pretty damn straight overall. It's rusty, but the rust isn't real HEAVY.Not deeply pitted like most.It came off a truck pretty recent I believe. These beds easy to take apart?

Re: Opinions wanted!(bed)

ive been offered $400 for a nice straight non rusty one. I held off because I still have so much work before I need a good bed. I think you can find a better deal but then again its the other side of the country...
