good mild 454 piston rings?

what are some good piston rings(maker brand etc) for a mildly built 454. .030 over mini dome pistons .150 dome(i think) srp pistons.fully blanced. 049 open chamber oval ports that are getting some mild port/bowl work and bigger valves (maybe) msd ignition airgap intake and a healthy cam.

it takes 5/64 5/64 3/16 rings.

im ready to order some but would like to educate myself a hair bit more on the rings and which are better.

and a quick one..good main bearings?

this is not a 10,000$ motor so in budget would be kinda nice. thanks guys!

Hastings are good. Total seal are good as well. Although some of the builders prefer not to use the gapless top rings. Either way, moly coated rings will do the trick.

Re: good mild 454 piston rings?

I guess I should have asked if you wanted to file fit your rings or just get a set for you bore and roll with it? CNC motorsports is a great company to deal with. Instead of buying them off of ebay, consider giving them a call and talk to them about what you want to do. Mahle and JE also make good rings. I always file fit my rings, but some guys just buy bore specific and have good luck with them. File fitting rings can take a little extra time, however I think the pay off is worth it.

Re: good mild 454 piston rings?

How did they balance the engine without the rings? Secondly you need to check what rings srp recommends using with their pistons. Moly rings will work fine.

Re: good mild 454 piston rings?

I'm sorry for the mis clarification the engine was balanced before disassembly.I bought it from a friend.not that it matters now.

Anywho, thanks for the tips on the rings. I'll give a few company's a call and get it Rollin. I just wanted to educate myself on it before I went searching.

Re: good mild 454 piston rings?

keep in mind that mahle, perfect circle, hastings, clevite are all the same company. If you buy a set of say hastings rings, they will be the exact same as a set of mahle just in a different box.

as for the bearings, a clevite h bearing should do the trick.
