1965 K10 Optional Wider Wheels?
Was their an option for wider wheels on the 1965, K10s. If so what dimensions were they. Again I am learning this model, doing a project with my grandson. We are just starting.

Re: 1965 K10 Optional Wider Wheels?
According to the 1965 Chevy truck Data Book, No , not from the factory. Widest available were 5 1/2 inch rims. But Special order, which would have been tricky through your dealer, things could be done. My 66 K20 was able to get the 16.5X8 wheels and is well documented. These are 8 lug rims though. I have a 1963 GMC 4x4 that I put factory Chevy 15x8 rims on. But I believe they are later 1973 on up rims. Heres a few pictures of trucks mentioned.

Re: 1965 K10 Optional Wider Wheels?
Thanks for the information. 60-66 and Randy thanks for the suggestion on stock looking wider wheels.
The 1965 Chevy truck model brochure shows a dark colored 4x4 model that appears to have wider wheels/tires. I guess the ad guys can take some liberty with the truckers under these brochures. Do you think they look wider ? 60-66 do the 8" wheels fit good and if you don't mind what size tires are you using. Les |

No problems with OE suspension.
They're 36" 12.50x16's on 9" center fire aftermarket steel rims.

The 15 x 8 6 lug could also be found on military vehicles 73 up.

Re: 1965 K10 Optional Wider Wheels?
Are the 1973, and up 15x8 6 lug factory wheels pretty much standard back spacing. Therefor any 15x8 non-rally (appearance) wheel will work on 64-66 4x4 K10.
I would use a narrower tire for this rim size to put less stress on steering components and frame where steering box mounts. Les |

The period wide base wheels in the 60s was the 8.25x16.5,both in 6 lug or 8 lug. This wheel could have been bought in the aftermarket or special ordered when new. These wheels were all clip type, the first bump type 8.25x16.5 was introduced in 1973.
